Briefly about Split Airport Croatia

Split Kastela/Resnik Airport is the airport serving Split and Kastela in Split-Dalmatia County in Croatia. The airport is the second largest in Croatia in terms of passenger numbers, handling 1,203,778 passengers in 2008. Airport is located in Kastela/Resnik, small places, 25 kilometers west of Split and 6 kilometers East from Trogir. The airport serves Split, Trogir and wider Dalmatia inclusive of Dalmatian Islands. It is an important hub for Croatia Airlines offering flights to many European cities such as London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Paris and Rome. There is one airport terminal which serves both domestic and international flights. Most of international flights to Split operate from April to October only, during tourist season. Starting in autumn 2007 and running through the year 2011, major overhaul works will be conducted at Split. By 2011, Resnik will have an expanded terminal, with 4 jetways. Driving to Split from the airport or vice versa is straightforward. Follow either the main road, D1, or the Adriatic coastal road, A1, and follow signs either to the airport or the city. Car rental company at Split airport is located in the arrivals hall. The car park is located directly opposite the terminal building. A coffee bar is located in the international passengers lounge, and there is also a restaurant with lounge just outside the international area. You can also find a mini market on the terminal ground floor offering a wide choice of Croatian souvenirs, gifts, newspapers, tobacco and much more. There is also a duty-free shop at the airport, which sells some 6,500 different products, including alcohol, tobacco, perfumes, sweets, watches, sunglasses, leather goods, toys and jewellery. Until Croatia becomes the member of European Union, international passengers may have the benefit of buying tax and duty free products at convenient prices.
